Weird noise from rear evo 8

Ive noticed a strange noise lately above 10 mph and thought it was coming from the front of the car. Anything below 10mph it goes a away instantly. Today i was driving with the windows down and it sounded like it was coming from the rear. So I got my GF to drive while i hopped in the back to hang out the rear window. LOL

Sure enough its sounds like its coming from the rear. The sound is repetitive. like wom wom wom wom wom quickly and as you slow it slows till 10-15 mph then dissappears. Not high pitched but mid level. Any ideas?

Edit: went for another drive and its gone with gradual acceleration and doesnt show up. Hit the peda lkind of hard from a roll and the noise is there again all the way down to near 5-10 mph accelerate again and its not there? LOl so confused.

Probably a wheel bearing. Jack the rear up and see if either of the wheels has any play in it.

Post a video so we can hear it?

It might be the chatter of the brake pad to the brake rotor. Probably have uneven brake pad deposits which is causing that noise. I would recommend to properly bed those pads.

Never thought of that. Car has relatively new Power slot rotors. Drove it to work today and get off the interstate makes noise and then vanishes coasting right before I stop and its gone again as I pull off from light. Lol its the craziest damn thing.

Check the rear diff magnet for metal chunks. Chunks mean you have lost a bearing in the diff.

Driving today gently the noise never came. Soon as i boosted it a lil the noise is audible. Stop and then take off back to no noise. If it were the tcase the noise would be constant no matter what at 20mph and above. Im not sure what this could be. Doesnt seem to be hurting the car. Changed the tranny fluid with some redline and it looked fine. No more than usual metal flakes.

It seems the noise keeps time with the wheels rotation. Like a warped rotor on brake pad that hits on every rotation. Not a brake on rotor sound though. Doesn t do it everytime though?
