iirc the gear is louder due to a high thrust angle.

 

I changed my fluid when I did my clutch a week or so ago. It looked about the same. Same size metal flakes. IDK. Mine feels ok except for rare high RPM lockout. Ive missed 2nd gear a few times and I imagine that added some metal down there. I have 72k miles.

 

ive had that whine since i got the car. you can really hear it during decel in 1st gear. when i 1st bought the car it had 29,000 milles and it was completly stock. the car now makes 580hp and has over 80k on it and it still makes that whine. if its just in 1st gear i wouldnt worry about it.

 

Like stated it means 1st gear needs to be replaced though they can last quite a while on a street car whining like that without issues.

 

mine was like that when i got my car 8 months ago ,and then i changed the clutch and put in a new 1gear and it went away ,then after few launches it´s back ,so i think it´s normal. But you can change the gear and just stop launching and you´ll have no whine

 

How much did it cost to replace the first gear? I just did a clutch and sound is still there. I'm kinda getting used to the whine. but sometimes it drives me crazy.

 

the oem gear with the trhow out is about 500-650$ +professional install ,but ofc if you want to sreet/drag heavily if you are building up some whp in your car i would go to sheptrans evo brag dogbox! but it will cost you $$$

 

Mine does this whining , too.
It sounds bad, feels bad, but It's okay to DD and not replace the 1st gear IMO.
and try not to put in 1st gear while the car is moving.

 

So it would be close to a 1000

 

1st gear making a little whining noise is normal.

(not sure if you have motor mounts) But keep in mind that with stiffer motor mounts more drivetrain & engine sounds transfer into the cabin.

 

Well mine makes a noise from 2k to 3k then slowly gets quieter going up and makes the Wee wee wee waa wa noise when slowing down in first. haha cant explain but it does get annoying. =( also no motor mounts haha
