Nothing new. People have been offing their automotive nightmares on others since the dawn of the automobile. Obviously it is amplified with performance cars.

Little more ballsy giving it to a dealer though as if they can prove that you knowingly traded it in without disclosing issues you're liable (One of the lil papers you sign when trading in your car)

Then to post that you did so on the internet is just plain stupidity

Bahaha!

oh and to the OP.. yes bearings... could be because of a bad oil pump, but that is the root cause, the symptoms are the bearing material from the lack of oil...

Dude, you have been given some solid suggestions-- and if you are seeing copper anything its bearings.. and if you have a drop in oil pressure, likely 10 psi at low to mid rpm range , could be less up top--thats a sure sign of bearings. It wont matter if the oil pump is bad at this point--the bearings are wearing and worn already and will continue to deteriorate. Next will be continued oil pressure drop, then a slight knocking that will get louder and louder with time. No you dont have a balance shaft issue-- I'll leave that up to you to discover the telltale signs of that. Ask youself "what was I doing just prior to the oil pressure drop"? You didn't mention what you were doing, or the oil level or the last oil change. GL, save your checks now and start looking for a GOOD shop. the longer you wait and drive the more damage takes place the more expensive it will get-- but your going to need a bottom end at least. Hope I am wrong, dont think I am.

If you rebuild, you should also replace the oil cooler.

Showed it to my buddy who has a machine shop, He said from the pressure it was making and the only time it had actual low pressure was at idle he belives it to be the balance shaft bearings. Which he said to be a issue on some 03 models

I appreciate all the comments, The only time I have low oil pressure is at idle, I will be doing all the work myself the only reason im asking for help is i am new to evos. Ive been a honda and chevy guy all my life. So i respect the fact that there are people on here with experience with evos and thats whats needed in this situation. I would like for you to explaion these signs of bad balance shaft bearings? I will be pulling the balance shafts today after work

The low oil pressure is not because of the oil pump, especially if you're seeing shavings. The bearings clearances are what create pressure. The pump just moves volume.

Okay I have it torn apart the bearings for the balance shaft look quite worn, but i see nothing copper colored on them. I pulled the rod caps one and a time and they all looked very smooth no grooves or pitting in them, took the oil pump apart the gears seemed fine no signs of abnormal wear anywhere. I just cant figure this out!!!!

Okay took it apart and this is the only things i could really find that look damaged. I checked the crank no play what so ever in/out or around for that matter. Also pulled rod caps and the bearings in them where nice and smooth no scratched or pitting or lines. In the picture the damage around the edge is where i started to knock the bearings out.

They're not really that bad(the front one isn't perfect, but not fubar'd either), none of them are into the copper. Did it look as though you were the first person into the engine?
