Lightbulb Greddy Profec B Spec2 Issues

Everyone,

You may all have seen threads on here about the Greddy Profec B Spec 2 boost controller having issues with its boost cut not staying at whatever you set it for unless you interact with it before driving. Mine has this issue and has become rather annoying, so yesterday I finally called Greddy USA and complained about the problem.

They informed me that some of the older versions of this unit (first production run) had a diode that was not functioning properly and that they thought I would need a replacement to make this unit function as it should.

I know some others on here have experienced this problem and that it is something that is fixable, so I started this thread to track the problem. Just FYI, the fix was implemented into production models around serial number "6000," so if you have one earlier than that there is a good chance you have this bug.

I am working through this issue with Greddy Tech Support and with the vendor I bought my boost controller from and I will let everyone know what results they are able to come up with.

JaMa

Fantastic. I've had that problem (I always reset my "Max Boost" setting every time I get in my car).

I just looked on my box: Serial #5889.

Please keep us informed.

Mine does the same thing. The display will turn red and the unit will beep even though you have not reached your warning boost pressure. It seems to cure the problem in you change the boost warning limiter each time before you go out for a drive. It is a little bit of a PITA. I hope I can get mine fixed. Other than that the unit works GREAT! Keep us informed of your findings.

are the people with this problem using the psi display mode by chance? The psi mode in the greddy profec b spec II has been known to cause issues. I had a hell of a time trying to dial in a good tune for the thing when trying to use the psi mode. As soon as i switched it over to kpa/bar problem solved works great. Just a suggestion if everyone is using the psi mode. Let me know if it helps.

Yeah i have the same problem... Unless I interact with switching the boost from low to high it will beep warning. I have had problems. Also my friend with a GSX has the same unit and got it the same time and has the same problem.

Please keep us up to date on this problem...

I for one AM using the PSI mode. I have had ZERO problems with tunability. Other than the alarm being wrong when the unit is powered up, the unit is awesome. I find it easier to tune, more responsive and higher quality than several of my past boost controllers from Blitz and Apexi. I find it unacceptable that the PSI setting somehow induces this problem as Greddy makes a really big deal about it displaying and tuning in PSI.

So, moral of my story is: they need to fix it, not tell us it dosent work unless the moon is full and I am holding my mouth a certain way.

I will keep everyone informed on this.

Thanks

JaMa

yeah, when the key is turned to the "on" position but not running, hold down the select button and press the mode button twice. do the same to switch back.

Thank you, sir.

My instruction manual is sitting at home on my desk and I wanted to try the Bar mode on the ride home.

Holy crap, what an improvement!

Bar mode holds boost SO much steadier than PSI. It just pegs the desired boost with no fluctuation.

I wish I'd done this ages ago.
