Uh-oh! Gearbox woes..

Hey guys, long time visitor but fist time posting ; heres my situation, maybe some expert could offer me some insight into my issue.

I have an EVO 4 RS, 140xxx KMS on body, 7K on rebuild/clutch.
I took my car for a drive to a town about 100kms away no issues, then on the the way home I was crusing along in 5th gear and suddenly my gearstick seized. I couldn't move it at all.

I didn't want to keep driving so I had to turn the car off and pull over as the car seemed to be stuck in gear. I opened the bonnet and played around with the selectors and the gearstick moved freely but the car is stuck in gear. Had to get as trailer and take it away.

It's currently in my garage and it doesn't push without the clutch being in so I assume it's stuck in gear HOWEVER it can reverse. I had hoped it was a selector cable issue but they seem fine, so talking to my friend we were thinking it could be a selector fork broken? It's weird though as the gearbox has always felt absolutely mint, nice and tight with no crunches.

Sorry for wall of text! I did some searching and I've tried research but I can't figure much out. I'm a student so I would prefer to do it on the cheap as in replace the individual piece without a full refurbish. Cheers for your time guys!
tl;dr: broken gearbox, can't get into any forward gears and it only reverses.
