Got myself a used Evo VIII, it has plenty of mods eg. ETS Intercooler piping & Intercooler, 3 in down pipe, 3 in cat back, 1250cc Injector Clinic injectors, IX BOV.
So far i can tell it has those mods.
My question is, how can I tell if the previous owner installed a 10.5 hot side on the turbo? I checked the turbo cold side and it is a VIII turbo. I have seen the hot side of the turbo and it looks oem, rusted and ugly.
Why would someone put all these mods and not modify the hotside?

I dont want to buy a 300$ hotside just for nothing


Can anyone help me? Any serial numbers that are printed on the hotside to tell apart from a stock VIII hot side?

It will have a 9.8 or a 10.5 casted somewhere on the housing

 

The casted number saying what size it is, are on the edge of the flange, IIRC.
