Hello guys, I have an Evo 8 2005 with stock turbo, injen intake and piping, skunk2 full catback, HBC Boost Control set at 21psi, 272/272 GSC cams, Turbosmart BOV, 255 walbro, and Tuned. But I'm kind upset because I took it to a dynojet and with all that Im just got 279hp, I was using 91 octane, for me this this is low hp. I didnt check for boost leak. Now I want to know if I put an Evo 9 turbo will help me on this to get more HP out my car? Im looking to get more than 300hp thanks

 

yes the evo 9 turbo will make more power than an 8 turbo, but you need to up your boost to 25-27psi with a good tune. that should put you at 350whp roughly with the mods you have posted

 

Ive been leaning on gettin a 9 turbo as well... Not sure what Im waiting for haha

 

Yea i have similar mods on my evo 8 rs on 93 at 25psi and I'm currently at 355hp/321tq

 

There you go buddy!! If you can find a oldie fp green you will be happier

 

if you gonna upgrade turbo there are plenty to choose from

 

Thing you have to remember is not only does the 9 have a larger turbo with the 10.5 hotside which the 05's have, they also have mivec which will help as well.

^ you also have an evo 9 I'm guessing stock 9 turbo? I have stock 8 turbo. Just giving him an idea where he should be with a stock 8 turbo

 

a downpipe would help(your mod list doesnt list one), maybe more boost but it depends on your tune

Or just get tuned with E85 and you'll be well over 300whp

 

even with stock injectors you should be over 300hp.
an evo 9 turbo with 850 injectors can do 375hp all day.

 

Is it me or does it seem that there is something else is wrong to be only at 279 hp. maybe just a bad tune. I would get it retuned before you get another turbo or see if anything else could be the problem.

 

I'm at 315/301: stock evo8 everything except perrin filter, megan tbe, and hallman mbc. Your tune needs refined, and to be honest I'm sure mine could be better as well.
