So, ihockey1, would you tell us what WGA you are using on your 71, and by what RPM you are seeing 24# of boost. I realize that you are running a higher peak level than 24#, but it easier for me to draw comparative conclusions at 24ish. Thanks!

Yeah, thanks, data would be good. I am trying to form an impression of how this 71 HTA turbo spools compared to a stock IX turbo. I'd like to ride in an Evo equipped with a 71. I also am trying to get an idea of how the spoolup on a 71 responds to high levels of waste gate spring pressure. So, any info would be useful. Thanks!

Back to topic for a second:
-How do you like the hta 71?
-Do you have any other turbo's to compare it to?
-How long have you been running it on 31 psi?

Your research is respected sparky, keep it up and you will truly be the Einstein of evo's . Also, great information to share with people who are considering this turbo.

Thanks, hermin, but I am far from being or ever becoming an Evo Guru. I appreciate the comparison with Albert but my IQ has tested low-average. That was BEFORE the use of mind altering, heavy substances. LOL

Hermin, I apologize for hijaking your thread.

I like it alot, been running that much boost for months now, im partially tuned by tscomp, i keep messing with stuff or things keep needing replaced so hopefully i get my tune finished soon. When i had a local shop build me an o2 dump they it did a horrible job of controlling boost and i was spiking to 35lbs or more since my map sensor doesnt read over 35 , ive run the stock 9 turbo for awhile and it spools a hair later but im on stock wastegate and it opens to soon imo, i should have another proper dump and heavy wastegate soon

I just received my turbosmart 25 psi wga in the mail. I was pulling the rod (no pun intended) to see how easy it wil be to set preload but it wont move out of the unit. Looks like you're just sort of stuck with no preload or something (

Any way I sent in my turbo 14 days ago, got to fp 7 days ago, and they just started building today ??!!! They said they would email me when it got there so that I could approve everything. They never emailed me. I called and called but it took me 5 days to get ahold of someone who knew what they were talking about. When I finally got through to someone he said "Oh yeah I just need you approval so that we can start the build." What the heck? Why didn't you try and contact me as soon as you needed my approval? Instead you wait around for 5 days for ME to contact YOU?? Looks like I'm in for a 6 week build I am disappointed with how pokey they're being but also expect the end to justify the means.

I WILL post results after install, to help people who were in the same boat as me make a decision. Will run pump 91 (I live in California) and E85.

You should've just ordered the 71 with a core charge and shipped your IX turbo after you installed the 71. Its only $100 more for no downtime.

I tried bur the guy at fp said they can't do that right now. I don't think they have enough cores or something.

Yo sparky, do you have any experience with the turbosmart WGA? Does it open the same as those fp and map actuators? I have the 25 psi turbosmart wga, but am worried that instead of opening at like 20 psi like the fp and map, the turbsmart will actually open at 25 and that is too high for my application. Any suggestions? Should I go with a 22 or a 18 psi turbosmart wga instead of the 25 that I have now? Thanks.

Bought from map, came with one spring outside of the wga. Not sure if there even is a spring in the wga because the actuator rod wont move (can't adjust pre load).
