Balance shaft belt tension?

Hey,
Have searched but came back with no result, Anyone know how tight the balance shaft belt should be? My belt seemed to be reasonably slack in tension when I removed it in my evo 5.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Thanks

Well at least it wasn't overtightened like mine was. I ended up breaking mine on the track which resulted in buying all new valves.

The service manual for my 8 reads that when properly tensioned the T belt should deflect 0.20 to 0.27 inches with a finger pressure of 22 pounds. So, have your finger calibrated.

haha yea, would be pretty hard to give the belt 22 pounds of pressure with you finger, anything in your service manual on the tension of the balance shaft belt?

I would get the balancer belt delete kit. I had the balancer belt snap, which f*&%ed my timing belt dropping valves. Only good thing it finally gave me the motivation to build the engine

So as the service manual says the balance shaft belt should have 22lbs of tension, how is everyone checking this tension when replacing the belt? Just guesstimating with "finger" tension or is there a tool that folks are using?

Not looking to spend money on a balance shaft delete kit yet. Just need to change my belts for 60K mile service.
