E85, should I do it?

I have an 03 evo with almost 100k miles on it.
I have
BBk Full ported
Jdl dump
Megan dp
Testpipe
Greddy cb
Aeromotive 340 pump
1250 Fic injectors
Perrin fmic
Ets licp
Cusco catch can
Arp head studs
Kelford 272s
Gsc beehive springs and ti retianers

I currently make 350/315 on a conservative tune on 91 octane

I'm very happy with the car, it's my daily and only sees wot pulls here and there.

Blackstone labs has been monitoring my oil and said my motor is in great shape.

E85 is 5 miles away from my house and I'm in ca so there are no winter blends and I have good propel stations.

I would hope for alittle over 400 on a conservative map.

The biggest initial problem I see is clogged injectors.

Would this be riskier than sticking with 91?

If so I would go to a 100 octane map.

Any advice?

I always say if you have access to it, go E85. Great stuff.

you will get way over 400whp with ur test up if your tuner knows what he is doing. id say close to 425whp ish. You need to make sure you injectors are big enough to support E85

I would switch to ethanol even if you didn't want any more power. Just pay attention and if you are worried about clogged injectors check them every so often or just alternate ethanol and pump gas tanks.

With a station within 5 miles I would definitely switch. Just make sure your injectors are big enough and slap on a wideband to be safe.

It is fun for a while

Not really practical! I used run on E85 for few months when I lived in LA.
you can run 35psi boost and it still fine with E85. 400whp is easy. And if you get close to 500whp you can actually feel that stock chasis and suspension is not really great for this kind of power. It is fun beating any cars on the street. But you need to go to the gas station very often because of horrible gas mileage. and it smells like beer brewing plant from your exhaust and drivers behind you will notice the smell also if you floor it.

However, it is pretty good for passing smoke check.

^^^The voice of reason

I say go for it. But for a DD its tough

The injector gunk issue is not a big concern in the short term. Read the Injector Gunk thread in the Alternative fuel forum (Some good info in there)

Im in So.Cal & have been under the influence for over 3 years w/out switching

I did it a long time ago on stock turbo and have been running it ever since, my evo isn't my daily driver though. Some people say it smells like crap, yadda yadda. My car would probably barely make 600 hp on pump and its up around 750 now at like 41lbs. I would spend a fortune in race gas to drive as much as I do.

I have 1250 Fic blue max injectors

I'm just concerned about bad fuel, what happens if I have a tank of e70 and mash on it? Will my car blow up lol

I ordered that to check e85 levels before I fill up
