Engine misfire
I need a little help from some of you fine people on this forum. My Evo has about 11,000 miles on it. The only engine related mod (if you could call it that) I have is a K&N drop in filter. All of the sudden my has picked up what seems to be misfire. It is only noticable in third and fourth gear between 3700 and 4300 rpm when accerating. It hasn't triggered a C.E.L. yet and I don't believe it is the engine pulling time. I have scheduled an appiontment at the dealer but, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. BTW I don't believe it to be bad gas or anything else mechanical because it consitently happens in just those gears and in that RPM range or atleast that is the only time you can notice it. Thanks in advance for any help.
I am haveing an identical problem. You get on the gass in 3rd or 4th and it clunks like the engine skipped and then just keeps on going.. no CEL because of it either, it has only done it when it is below 45 outside! let me know what the dealer says it is?

I was a little suspicious of the plugs, quite awhile ago I took the car in for the recall with the seam sealer and when I did they asked if there was anything else to look into. I told them it was idling a little rough, so they did a compression test. Which makes me wonder if the tech screwed up the gap on one of the plugs, or if they just put in new plugs and never got the gap right. That was quite awhile ago though and this has just started recently. I have already made an appointment at the dealer so I'll let them look into it to make sure there isn't anything more substantially wrong and post back here with the results.
According to the dealer it is the throwing the po300 misfire code. They said that they can fix it but, have not yet because they wanted me to take out my turbo timer to insure that there is no warranty issues when turning it into Mits. corporate. Which I thought was very considerate of them.
