misfire after rebuild
misfire after rebuild
ive recently buillt an evo vi engine with evo v111 cams in my evo iv head and fitted it in my prior crankwalked iv.
its only running on 3 cylinders but i cant track down the fault.
compression is spot on and within 5 psi of each other each cylinder.
the misfire is cylinder one as i have no drop in rpm or misfire tone when i remove injector 1 plug.
i have a good spark on the cylinder. I can hear injector 1 ticking and it also has voltage on the plug.
when i remove the plug in cyl 1 after it running with misfire its slightly wet on the piston top and it smells like fuel but cant be sure. its not oil and not enough to effect the cylinder to zero % combustion.
my current ideas are
1)i have noticed that a previous owner bypassed the fuel pump relay on bulkhead and just joined 3 of the pins up but this worked before
2)injector resistor
3)old hydraulic tappets with new cams
4)faulty injector/blocked injector
what do you recon

Make a leak test on a cold engine. If one of the cylinders has a major leak - repeat the test with cams or rockers taken out. If there is no leakage anymore then it could be that your valve seats been machined and valve stems not, then they may not seal well.
