Just curious as I'm upgrading the rods to Manley H beams when my bigger turbo goes on.

I've seen some youtube videos of EVO's running nearly (& over) 500bhp with no mention of forged rods in the build.

I personally have, and have tuned several cars to that level.

I've read that they are quite reliable at 400 on stock internals.

Most power I have made on a stock block is just a hair over 600 Virtual dyno. There are many others on here that walk all over that number on stock block.

Has alot to do with turbo size (not alot of down low torque, helps save the rods), tuning techniques, fuel (E85), and a carefree mind about your motor if a rod bites the dust

600!!! That is impressive on a stock block.

It seems here in the U.K. they are a lot more prone to throwing a rod at anywhere near the 500 mark.

I think that might have a bit to do with chasing numbers

I've had about 416 bhp for over a year now, stock rods. No issues at all. This was on 93 octane.

What boost/turbo do you have?

93 octane would destroy my engine. I have to feed it 99 octane to achieve 403/415ftlbs

Your thinking of RON octane rating. Here in the US we use AKI rating
