Well after a DUNG ton of research I have decided to go with the FP red. Super reliable plus great transient response ill take that any day. Plus i have read alot and seen that Jb turbos dont lubricate well under high G scenarios which high turbo rpms mixed with little oil = fail. BB red all day

People seem to forget that all factory turbochargers from Mitsubishi have been journal bearing. There are still plenty of StarQuests and DSM's running around on the stock turbo beyond 100k miles, some even 200k+, plus countless other turbo cars such as Omni GLH's. There is nothing wrong with journal bearings; like anything else, care for it properly and it'll last for a long time. Turbochargers are not a maintenance or replacement part, they're designed to last a long time, journal bearing or otherwise. 23k miles and counting on my EF2 journal bearing

Power-wise, on my old IX power was within 3whp peak between the BB Red and EF3; both easily 500+ turbochargers on E85.

And who said they have never heard of any problems with the EF3???
The guy doing my install has built ALOT of Evos and he said to stay away from the Ef3 as well cause he has seen two of them go to hell rite after install. He directed me towards FP and yes the price is around 6-700 more but Id pay that anyday to keep my car running everyday and not have down time from having to send the EF3 back into Map.

Would you mind PMing me your name sir, I would like to look into this further as I am not aware of any turbine wheel failures. I tried searching through your old posts for info, but all I found was this thread about your old FP turbo failing.

FP has certainly had their fair share of failures on the stock frame units over the years. So don't be naive man do some searching for yourself

Just giving you an FYI as I have no dog in this fight I went T3 years ago and would never go back

I havn't had either turbo but am considering the EF3 in the spring... My research has netted a significant amound of reliability issues with FPs, not to mention long turn around times and such. Not to say that there aren't a ton of happy customers for both... Ive had amazing customer service and crazy fast delivery with MAP.

T3 For Life! It does have an initial up front cost, but you can sell most of your old modifications pretty easily on the board.

What you gain.

Larger Turbine Housing
Better Turbocharger Options (In My Opinion)
Pull To Redline (No More Mountain Graphs)
Larger / Ported Compressor Covers (Anti-Surge)
Better Transient response between shifts (Allows you to hold more boost through the shift - (Ball Bearing)
Larger Downpipe
External Wastegate

Man.. I feel like I can go on for days. We have options for spool from 3800-6000, depending on horsepower goals.

Good Luck Man!!!

Michael
