Engine builders step in: Clearances!
03whitegsr got it right in his last sentence. "Blueprinting" is a process, not just simply recording the outcome of the process. But once again, we might be speaking of the same thing.
No. I dont think we are. Im just trying to help there are a lot of smart people here. But really. If you walk in to any engine shop I have ever been in and say oh yeah can you blue print my engine please. They are going to machine it how they want or to specs you requested and also record them and give them to you. Which honestly even if the customer is not paying for blueprinting they should record and keep that for their own record anyway. The customer would merely be paying to have that info. Most of the things he spoke on should be apart of the routine machining process anyway.
Again Im not tryin to arguing. Just trying to help. Since I dont believe you will find a real definition in the dictionary as it is slang or technical jargon I suppose its open for interpretation, just know that if you request blueprinting at most shops that is what they will do.
