Need help with timing belt

Spent most of the day doing my first timing belt. Everything went fairly smooth following the write up in the do it yourself section up till now. Ive got the new balance belt on. Im working on the timing belt. Ive got it on and all the tdc marks correct. The oil sprocket didn't really fall either way like everyone said it would. But the screwdriver method worked.
My problem is...
Ive readjusted the tension 3 times and the grenade pin still wont go in. The auto tensioner is to far extended for the pin to go in. Even after I spin the crank and give it 15 min. Does this mean I need to try to get the tension pulley tighter before pulling the grenade pin? or am I getting it too tight? Im tired and its been too long of a day for me to figure it out.
Thanks for any input.

Is this a new hydraulic tensioner? You're supposed to preferably buy a new tensioner OR compress your's in a vice and put the pin in OR buy one of the tensioner tools to compressor the tensioner before removing it all. http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/A...oner-Tool.html

that help?

put the tensioner in a vice to compress it and put in the pin , fit the tensioner then adjust the tensioner pulley till the pin comes out easily .

Its a new tensioner. I put in my vise, put the pin in, then install it. I then adjust the tensioner pulley as tight as i can get it, Then i pull the pin. Crank the engine over by hand a few times... then the pin wont go back in like its sposed to.
thanks for helping

Everything sounds perfect...except the pin does NOT go back it. Since the rod/piston in the tensioner is extended it is doing its job and putting tension on the tensioner pulley assembly.
Standard value for A is about 3.5 - 4.5 mm (0.15 - 0.17 inch)

thanks for helping
then its either too little or too much tension you need to re adjust the tensioner pulley

Ok thanks guys. i got a helper out in the garage and got the tensioner pulley tighter so the pin would go back in like its sposed to. Now it wont start... I don't have the covers back on or anything, just the crank pulley to keep the belt from walking. I plugged the cps back in but it wont start. Turns over fairly easy by hand, no funny noises. Just wont start? Everything still lines up with TDC perfect.

Two things worried me a little bit... I have a IX, so on the intake cam gear its got the balancer thing with the 14mm hex. I accidentally broke that hex nut loose tring to line up the cam gear. I tightened it of course. I also spun the oil sprocket counter clockwise a few times, tring to get it to fall the right way. Shouldn't hurt anything.
Still wont start. Everything looks good. It turns over fine and every second or so it sounds close to starting but it wont. I didn't try it long. Don't want to damage anything.
