I just got the HO alternator with the smaller pulley. I'm only revving to 7500rpm so would the smaller pulley be fine?

If not I'll swap to the OEM sized pulley but how do you take the pulleys off as a rattle gun doesn't do it!

Use one with more torque! I swapped my pulleys twice because I wasn't sure which one to run lol. Ended up with the stock size after R/t had problems with the small pulley and came up with the math on the rev's, look it up and plug in 7500 and see if you are in spec

So how is everyone liking their alternators? Called up Nate this morning and ordered one. Really great guy and down to Earth. I'm running a Magnafuel 4303, Spal Extreme Performance 12" baby sucker of a radiator fan, 200 watt Alpine amp, 4 electronic gauges, tt, aem ems, and radar detector on top of all of the other oem electronics/hid's. Fired the car up after 3 years with an oem alternator I replaced the original one with back in like '06 and it bit the dust immediately. Had an old batcap 800 in the trunk so couldn't tell you which one was responsible for the failure. Have a new batcap 800 but on the fence about using it or an optima yellow top this go around. Opinions? Just happy to have the security of replacing it with a higher powered unit this go around

R/T, were you ever able to do any logs with this unit?

Thanks,
mitsuorder

I had a batcap 800, don't use it by itself. small batteries give you trouble I would stick with that yellow top, that said I moved to a small Lithium battery and like it very much so far, even though it is "small" it has the ah's of a larger battery.

Also don't forget to upgrade your "Big 3"

Yeah I am hesitant to go back to running one on its own. Do you mind me asking which lithium battery you've found success with? I've looked at the LP stuff. The 680 def does look nice to keep my current mounting solution.

Def upgrading the battery to alternator cable, routing multiple batt to chassis grounds, and engine to chassis grounds.

Appreciate the response khmerpimpin

i need to pick up a HO alt as well. gonna run a electric PS setup.

i run this battery brand. http://www.shoraipower.com/
my bat is 4.2lbs. as for wiring. less is better. starting from the starter go from the starter over trans to the alt. alt to the battery. i built my own grounds as well. re did the trans ground, made a block ground, head ground, and some other stuff. starter cranks much stronger and i have less wire then stock.

dan,

That's an awesome idea with the electric p/s pump. Those Shorai units look to be a pretty nice lightweight Li-ion option. Which one do you run? I would like to keep the "680" form factor to retain my current trunk mount location if at all possible while retaining optimal function.

the standard PC680 is what 220CCA? or something. my batt is the same size. i could have gotten one 1/2 the size with more CCA then the PC680 and weigh in at 2.Xlbs. but i wanted the most for the spot i had. as for the C680 i do not know much about it so i can not compare.

my batt is this one. http://www.shoraipower.com/Products/...36A3-BS12.html. not cheep but i am sure you understand the benefits of Lithium-Iron.

i also have there charger. but you can use a reg charger if needed.

mine has been out of the car since last AUG and still holds 13.1V sitting on the shelf with no charge.

Price looks good by me especially when you factor in theoretical life. The 4.96 lbs of the Shorai is a definite bonus. I'm just not wanting to jump from the 14 lbs of the Batcap to the ~34 lbs of a yellow top :/

Appreciate all the info man
