Anybody having trouble with their Odyssey pc680 battery?
So after a month of downtime the alarm on my evo drained the battery completely that the alarm stopped working. I gave it a jump and it turned on fine, after driving it for about an hour when I got home I turned it off. An hour later I went to turn it on and it just clicked and did not turn over. I measured the voltage and it was 12.52 which is a discharged battery. I contacted oddysey and they advised me to purchase a 6 amp charger to charge it since the cars alternator is not capable of deep charging. So I charged it overnight and the voltage read 12.82 which is perfect. Installed it in car and turned on fine. The next day I went to turn on the car and again it did not turn over. It read 12.48 which is not good. The battery is less than a year old. Is it toast?
There is always issues with the pc680. I use the battery included in the ETS mini battery kit and never have any issues, even with letting my car sit for weeks at the shop.
I just bought noe The Tender Plus charger as advised from a buddy of mines at Pepboys that owns an Evo and the pc680 and had the same problem. He said he charged his overnight and never had a problem after that. Lets see i will advise.
You guys all need to invest in battery tenders. Even without mine on the tender I can let my car sit for weeks with no issues in 40 deg weather.
I even have my mini battery mounted in the trunk. I always use the Deka etx14, in fact I have never used a single Odyssey battery.

I'm on my 2nd one. Contacting Odyssey, they highly recommend you use their battery tender. I know...
Oh well, the hassle still justifies a 20lb savings and a freer engine bay

I would take it to autozone or someplace similar to that where they can test it for free. Get a 2 amp charger on it and charge it up then take it back to get it tested. These type of batteries can fail a tester but if you charge it up enough times I have seen them come back to life and test good, you just have to do a really low amp charge. I have done that with 4 vrla batteries that I have in my garage now from batteries given for free.
My pc680 was on my car for one year, sat for another, and is now on another car currently. G/L

Either use a miata battery which you can use the stock tray and trim it (and can be found at mst auto stores for under 100) or use a honda battery which still allows you to use a short route UICP and avoid discharge probs common with some mini batts
I have had the PC680 on my DSM for a few months now and have not had a problem at all. It usually isn't daily driven yet still starts up great every time so far. I bought mine at batterymart.com.
