Interesting....

I noticed this type of noise the other day driving home.

I was thinking it could be my tires rubbing or the center caps rubbing since I just got my winter tires put on right before that noise started. Looks like I'll have to do some investigating.

I've experienced this as well, however in my case its clutch. I'm almost 100% sure its the tob/clutch. The chatter eminates from the transmission and only during cold months. Getting into any gear the previous night is nearly impossible, however after 3-4 minutes everything works smooth as butter. I'm no expert it could be the slave cylinder or just fluids that need to be changed.

If I'm slowing down to a stop and press the clutch in, shift to neutral, then let it out. It's hard to get the car to go back into any of the gears after this a lot of times.

To expand on the notchiness while driving normally, second gear is the worst by far. When shifting I will hold it towards second and it will hit some sort of barrier and not shift for a second, then slide in without any sort of grinding.
Your account, including the 'barrier', are the result of the pressure plate not disengaging the disc from the flywheel. This renders it difficult to get the car into gear from a stop. When the car is moving, the inability of the PP to disengage permits changing gears, but only after a hesitation whereby the syncros are forced to do the work.

These symptoms are typically indicative of (a) a mechanical issue that prevents PP disengagement, or (b), a worn out clutch. If this is a factory clutch with 63k miles, prepare to replace it.

Guess that explains why the 3rd gear synchro is getting a little rough as well. Guess it's time to get a new clutch... damn. Was hoping to put that off. May as replace the synchro while the transmissions out too.

Just to update everyone on how this turned out. I ended up ordering a new clutch and had the transmission taken apart while it was out for the clutch install. Everything in the transmission looked brand new. None of the synchros were worn or anything.

The main problem was that the clutch was nearly shot and the flywheel was slightly warped. I'm not really sure how the flywheel problem happened since this car has been launched only twice (on different days even). It doesn't seem like it should have gotten too hot from that.

Anyways, now the the flywheel has been resurfaced and the new clutch (competition clutch stage 2) is in, the car shifts fine and all of these problems have been resolved. 2nd is still slightly hard to get into sometimes, but I guess that's just how these transmissions are.
