It seemed like it started when it got cold. Could be a coincidence. I have been noticing white/bluish smoke when I WOT and start the car in the morning, doesn't happen all the time though.

I can only hear it when i'm in idle. It still makes the noise when the clutch is engaged/disengaged.

Does the rattle go away when the engine is fully warm?

How many miles on the turbo? When was the last time you checked for shaft play?

 

It actually only rattles when it's fully warm. Turbo has been on the car as far as I know. 114k. Never checked for shaft play.

 

Well the bluish smoke is common for burning oil.

I would suggest that you check the turbo for shaft play, both in/out and up down.

Also check the hot side for oil residue.
