Someone needs to do a turbo compairison!

I change my mind every day what i want! i cant decide what turbo i want!
Turbo's
HTA 3586r (FP) or DBB 6266 or DBB 6466

NOW BEFORE PEOPLE GO CRAZY. i know there are comparison's of the 6266 and 6466. I dont buy that TQ curve on that 6466 being better then 6266 how does that make any sense?

Someone needs to get all 3 turbo's and test all the same day and throw it up on here. If not i might find a way to do this comparison myself with help of other local's.

I want a 750-800whp Turbo with the best Spool to get me there running around 36-38PSI

yea but id reather spool up quicker and achieve that goal so i feel like u said a 6266 would do that trick. now on that one thread the 6466 out spools ....and makes more top end then the 6266 switch makes sense

Ask Tom to show you my 6466 graphs. We're not done yet, but you can see the spool.

It needs to be a 3786 vs the 6266 and 6466 to keep it fair. The main thing is if you want 750-800whp and good spool you need to go to a properly sized twin scroll setup.

Exactly. My 3586 vs 6466 setup is night and day. The 6466 spools up exactly like my 3586 did but I made a lot more power as well. and I had bigger cams on the 6466 then I did on the 3586.

I misread 3786 for 3794. Hahaha.

Ask Tom to look at my graph. I am running a hta86, but its got the smaller .63 housing. Now so far, im only tuned for pump, but Tom will be doing an e85 tune for me in the spring. See how far we can push this small housing.

I was skeptical about it when I got it, but I love this turbo with the smaller housing. It spools up great! Tom said it spools just like a black.

Keep in mind, I am not going for top end. I have a stroker, so top end doesnt matter to me as much as it would if I had a built 2.0. I think its an excellent balance.

I don't have all the results you're asking for since I just started tuning my setup on a new 6466. So far I'm very impressed! I have a built 2.0 DSM with full mods, SMIM, Kelford 272, E85, etc.
Previous turbos;
GT35 in a .63 housing
Old version PTE6265 with a billet compressor wheel and P trim turbine wheel in a .82 housing,
and I've had several small turbo setups on the car. This is my 4th turbo swap this year!

The 6466 in the .82 housing spools up approx the same as the GT35 in a .63 housing and approx 400 rpm sooner than the 6265. So far the boost is up to 25psi and I had to keet it under 6krpm or else boost would creep up too high. Since this is a new setup and a fresh tune I didn't want to attempt tuning with unsteady boost levels. I took the wastegate off the car yesterday and checked it out to make sure it was working properly and made a few adjustments. I'll push the tune higher this week and see how much torque I can get out of it. But like I said, I kept it at 25psi for now. BTW it's hitting 25psi at 5krpm during a 3rd gear dyno pull.

I've already tuned it for street driving. Driving around town is no prob, no worries about lag. Transient response is very nice. I have to give credit to the new turbo's ceramic ball bearings and lightweight wheels. I actually like it better than the old school 20G I had on the car last Spring. That turbo had a pair of old tech, heavy wheels that killed transient response. The previous GT35 and 6265 had noticeable lag like you'd expect with big turbos. There's not a lot of power way down low in the rpm range, but it's there instantly.

I can say this for sure- get a big wastegate! I've seen the same thing on other setups with the new CEA turbine wheel. The new wheel is more efficient and takes less exhaust to spool the turbo. I have a 44mm gate already, but I think it's creeping because I setup the wastegate outlet at a right angle, I should've angled it down so exhaust can flow into the gate easier. I may just have to get a bigger wastegate and weld a larger outlet tube on the manifold.

I plan to go back on the dyno sometime this week and see if the adjustments I made are helping enough. I'll check with them on Monday and see when the dyno schedule is open.

so from what im reading the 6466 is a bigger turbo and has the same spool of a hta 3586r?

the 6466 is a cheaper turbo also.
