Trying to figure out an oil pressure issue

So Im working on an EVO 8, rebuilt the motor, new oil pump. We were trying to get it started, but the new oil cooler hasnt shown up yet. So I plugged the two port on the oil cooler housing. Ive done it on DSMs, they seem very simular. Problem is the oil pressure took for ever to build up and its kinda weak, goes to 50 psi and jiggles back and forth from 30 psi, very little coming from the rocker arms.

Curious if we need to do something with the Oil Cooler bypass port, and if this method just doesnt work with this housing, OR maybe this oil pump is **** from get go.

I could wait for the oil cooler, but Im curious about another guy I know that plugged them and had the motor fail 2 weeks later.

thats a tough one, im waiting on an oil cooler as well and plugged up my holes, I did looser rod bearings than i usually do and at first start up i have 100psi on cold start cold oil at like 1500rpm, when its warmed up i see 15 average at idle (1000rpm) when driving around 3k rpm I get 80 down to 65ish the hotter the oil gets. usually on tighter bearings its a solid 80 by 3k rpms. if you dont have any of these #s i would say something is up. maybe you forgot a balance shaft bearing? lol

No, I put the BS bearings back in. And you plugged them, not looped right?? So far sounds like a pump. Anyone else plug them off?
