Oil Filter Housing Oil Flow Direction

Hey guys,

I apologize if this has already been covered before but I had no luck finding the answer. I'm installing an aftermarket oil cooler into my 4G64 build and I would like to route the hoses so that the sending oil port is on the bottom of the cooler, that way my oil level is correct and all the oil gets changed and oil isnt stored in the cooler.

In the VIII oil filter housing I have, which port is the sender to the cooler and/or which one is the oil cooler return line?

If you blow air through the "blue arrow" port, air comes out the center bore of the oil filter housing. If you blow air through "red arrow" port, air comes out the engine oil port on the oil filter housing. I know it's common knowledge filtered oil goes upwards through the center bore, so am I correct in assuming that filtered oil (blue arrow) is the oil cooler sending port?

Thanks in advance.

Service manual for my 8 lists the hose from the side fitting as "feed hose" and the bottom hose as "return hose".
