evo 8 longblocks question

I was wondering what are the differences in the 03 - 05 evo 8 motors. I have a 2003 evo 8 and need to swap in a complete long block since mine is toast.

Will I need to buy a 2003 specific or will the 04 and 05 work as well. I know the 05 has ACD and I don't, does that matter?

Just need to know if it is a direct swap in from the 04 and 05 models.

You can use any year 03-06. If you use the 06 block you will have to plug the MIVEC oil feed hole.

Yes, I understand he was talking about longblocks. The 8 head will bolt onto the 9 block though so whatever block he comes across he can use.

If hes going to buy a longblock, i highly doubt hes interested in swapping heads and all involved with doing so.

He wouldn't have to swap heads, with a mivec block. He could, as already stated, plug the hole, or he has the option of drilling/ tapping a hole into the head. But chances are he wont have to do either as my guess is he'll find an 8 block instead.

That is not the point though, he never mentioned if he was only going to buy a complete long block from someone or if he was going to put the long block together himself. He asked if the different years are compatible which they are

Do you not understand that the Evo 8 can use the Evo 8 or 9 block? So it doesn't matter that he said Evo 8.
