Yes, time will tell. I believe the EVO 8 motors will be fine at 500hp. Once you start to go over that the rod bolts and rods MIGHT become a problem.

They don't look much stronger (should look damn near identical) but the EVO 6/6.5 rods are cast. The EVO 8 rods are forged....that makes a huge difference in the strength of the rods.

PS: Great numbers on the stock internals! I love this engine

Well, I know this has been up for discussion several times here and it also says they are forged in some Mitsu documentation but as I said, I have seen them side by side and if the 8‘s are forged so are the 6’s. But I would say that it’s the other way around.

If they were forged could somebody tell me how the markings on the rod can be sticking up from the base material? I can’t see how you could get the letters and numbers doing that if they were forged and it’s the same on both rods. If you put markings in forged material won’t you need to stamp them down into the material?

There must be someone qualified to determine if they are forged or not that has seen a rod from an 8 and could settle this once and for all?

I believe the only difference between the two is that the EVO 8 are forged.

These pics are after the car has been run for a while and has some 500hp pulls under it's belt.

Great numbers!! Can you post the final pump gas dyno over a stock or slightly modded run? I am curios about the difference in hp as rpms build. Sometimes people worry about too much lag when the upgraded turbo makes more power at less boost throughout the rpm range. I would guess that is the case with the GT35R. Is this what you’ve found?

Also more dyno numbers are coming soon. The owner is taking the car back to the dyno on Sat for extensive tuning. We will post the results and new dyno sheets so you can see how much power the RnR GT35R kit will support on a basically stock motor.

I can post the pump gas map up here, but maybe someone else can lay it over a stock set up to see the difference.

I just need to resize it first.
