Wastegate Solenoid A Issue! HELP
Wastegate Solenoid A Issue! HELP
Im throwing a code for my wastegate solenoid A but it seems to run perfectly fine...there is a gap on the top cap of the wastegate that im sure isn't supposed to be there. is that whats throwing the code? if not what is the solenoid A? boost is a little fishy too...its holding just fine and everything, I just installed a new hallman manual pro RX and with the heavy spring I peak at about 18 lbs all the way up. im not hitting fuel cut or anything like that the car runs perfect. is the wastegate stuck partially open, do I need a new one? Thanks for the help!
When you installed your mbc, did you cap off the 2 fittings that held the vac lines to the wastegate and j-pipe? That's your solenoid. And that gap on the actuator rod is normal that piece moves around.
when I bought the car it had a blitz sequential in it and I just took the lines from that and hooked it up to my hallman, I don't see any lines that should be capped. are they just vac lines or not? im really new to this stuff and im just trying to understand it. thanks so much for the reply

The solenoid is located in the driver side of the engine bay between and below the air filter box (if you still have it) and the ic spray water reservoir (if you still have that) right above the fender well bulge. Hope that makes sense.
edit: never mind looks like you found it. There should be 2 fittings on it. Those should be capped off. You can use a peice of vac hose to loop both ends together.

I'm thinking the stock boost controller is still in and the 2 holes Arnt plugged. Also make sure the lines on your Hellman Arnt reversed.

ok...then we are on the right page. that is the solenoid that is gone and the harness for it is attatched to the harness for the mas cause I still have that. is it throwing the code because its not hooked up?
alrighty! thanks so much for that detailed install info. helps a lot for me to understand! thanks so much for all the help...but as for the boost im still not even hitting stock boost with a maxed out hallman boost controller. and my vacuum lines are installed correctly is it a tune issue?
As for boost, you need to conduct a boost leak test.
Here's a write up on common leaks with EVO'S

If you have stock throttle body shafts... There's defiantly leak there. The stock seals dry rot quickly.
That's is most likely why your not hitting target boost.
Boost leaks = no fun.

Since you are using a manual boost controller, you will need to edit the ECU to not take data from that now unused circuit. It is doing no harm the way it is, but it will take a Tactrix Cable and ECUflash to get rid of the CEL.
Your Wastegate Actuator pictured looks fine.
What psi are you achieving? Also remember peak psi may not be the same as redline psi.
A boost leak test is probably one of the most helpful diagnostic procedures for an evo running off a MAF sensor.
