HTA 3586R or PTE 6766SPR for my setup?
HTA 3586R or PTE 6766SPR for my setup?
I am almost finished building my block
I now need to decide which turbo I should go with
Here is my current engine setup
BLOCK:
Darton Dry Sleeves
CP 10.5 CR 85.5mm Long Rod Pistons
Carrillo 156 156mm Long Rods
OEM Headgasket
HEAD:
Ported and Polished Head
GSC S2 274/274 Camshafts
HKS Cam Gears
MAP Beehive Valve Springs
MAP Ultimate Duty Valves (Stock Size)
Ferrea Titanium Retainers
Ferrea Guides
INTAKE:
Fully Ported and Polished Intake Manifold (Not just the runners)
Ported TB (or I might get a 70mm TB)
I am debating between HTA 3586R or the PTE 6766SPR
I really like the HTA 3586R but the reason I am considering 6766 is because I have full stock drivetrain (stock tranny, t-case and diff) and I am afraid that the low range torque that I will get from HTA 3586R compared to 6766SPR might harm my drivetrain
I will be boosting 30-32 psi and rev the car to 8500-9000rpm range
My goal is to have a fast roll racing car with a good daily drivability.
Which turbo do you guys think would be better for me??

The variances between the two, when it comes to impact on the trans T-case and diff, will be next to nothing. Bad shifting, launching and not changing fluids kill those parts.
imo a 6466 would fit well if you want north of 800hp if you don't then just stick with a 62mm. Mines a 2.4lr 10.5cr on a 62 with a great power band that does pretty decent, my next turbo will be a 6466 though.
Off Topic --> But Why don't you look at a PTE 6466 BB Turbo instead of the other two turbo you are looking at? lots of member running that turbo and makes lots of power and good spool time.

I've talked with a local shop thats using both the 6466 and 6766 on regular basis for crazy TT viper, single turbo builds etc. The only real difference they've seen in the turbo is the 67 has cooler intake charge temps up top, but as far as spool characteristics they were pretty much identical. Mind you I didn't ask what specific displacement setups these were on but this shop varies from built honda motors all the way up to pro mod 94mm turbos on 454ci SRT8 Jeeps.
