Leaking Evo IX transfercase

I recently noticed a few rather large drops of oil on the ground underneath the tcase. I cleaned everything so i could get a better look to see what was leaking and from where. After some driving i noticed that there is fluid building up around the breather on top of the tcase in the ribbing and then when once those pockets fill up it leaks onto the main crossmember then onto the floor. The last time the fluid was changed was a couple of years back. The weather has also been colder. Not sure if that could possibly be effecting something. Do these breathers every become faulty or is there a more serious problem elsewhere? There are no weird noises or anything coming from the tcase either. I checked around the areas of the main seals and the fluid defiantly seems to be coming out of the breather on top of the tcase. Any ideas would be great thanks.

I had the same problem with my '92 DSM. I ordered a new breather and RTV'ed it in place. This fixed the leak. I don't know what caused the problem (whether the breather or the sealant) but I suspect I broke the old seal (hit the breather) while doing a clutch job. I see the factory service manual for my '03 Evo calls for 3M AAD Part # 8001 or equivalent as sealer for the TC breather.
