Rebuiling Engine Head With New Cam??

Hi Guys,

The car (Evo 9) is in the workshop for a major service and cam upgrades at the same time. I will be changing the cam to Tomei Procam 270 with MAP UD Beehive Spring and Ferrae Retainer. The workshop said that I best rebuild/machine the head at the same time to get the correct lift. Is that necessary? Can I just install the new cam, spring and retainer and leave the head untouched? Thanks

You can, but unless you have some special measuring tools, you are guessing/assuming at the valve spring installed height and pressures.
