can an 01 galant oil pump be used on an Evo 8?

Heres a short story on what happened... i spent so much money on my build... I took my engine to the Machine shop i asked if they can shave down my balance shaft for the (balance shaft delete) and they said YES we do it all the time, so i trusted them. I knew i shouldve bought a GSC balance shaft instead but they said they can do it. I put it in the engine. still a little iffy about it, drove it for 1000 miles and at around 900 the car started feeling weird. i thought ok mabe because its not tuned "anyone who drove their cars for awhile know when something is wrong" We put it on the dyno and seen the gauge was reading low. I have a prosport oil pressure gauge... i heard it was common for them to not read that well. The car was running great but my friend said "for some piece of mind i just want to take the oil pan off to make sure!" So he took it off and seen there was wear on the bearings . The engine came apart again and we seen that the balance shaft was NO LONGER BALANCED! instead of looking like a circle it was more of an oval shape and very very scratched up. So i have to spend another $1000 pretty much and i heard...

that the oil pump from an 01 galant would fit on an evo 8 i searched and searched but havent found anything on it.. They look the same from what i see. and about $150 + cheaper for the galant one does anyone have any insight on this?

Please let me know asap so i can go ahead and start buying parts.

Thanks guys!
