Perrin Catback Installation
Perrin Catback Installation
First of all thanks to World One Performance for a prompt shipment and a good price. The video/sound clips on their site are accurate. It is a little louder than stock, but not a whole lot. It is a deeper rumble with a more aggressive sound. The factory catback weighed 35 lbs and the Perrin weighed 30 lbs. When the installation is complete it sits perfectly in the rear bumper cutout and looks better than the factory pipe. Installation was not as easy as it should be. A one-hour job took me two hours. First, the mid-pipe flange did not slide right onto the stock cat studs. I attempted to file the holes on the mid-pipe flange because it was close to fitting, but there is too much material in a ½” thick flange to deal with. So I attempted to remove the studs from the cat and got one out with minimal fuss, but the second one was really tough, so I left it in and used one factory stud and one Perrin supplied bolt. I was disappointed with this hassle, a cat-back should bolt right up to the cat, no? The other problem I had was with the rear hanger that bolts to the top of the muffler. Perrin does not supply a bolt for this hanger and the factory one ends up being too short. So buy a 5/16” x 2” bolt/nut/washers before you get into this installation and save some headache. Has anyone else had a similar experience with a Perrin catback installation? Overall I am satisfied, no leaks, no clearance issues and it looks great.
