No I feel that FP turbos are good after looking for other FP turbo fails out there. Not much that can be found to ruin their name. I know it sounds weird but the first person I spoke to was a chick. And I think I probably sounded sexist by asking for a tech to speak to instead of her lol. She knew what she was talking about though. Made me feel dumb haha. I just printed out my shipping paper work to send it out on Monday. Its my fault for buying a used turbo from a guy who didnt give exact info. And for listening to some friends that swore that FP could not fix their own ball bearing turbos. My biggest mistake was not calling em up in the first place to get more accurate info. Two of my other Evo buddies have FP Blacks as well and they have been using them for over 2 years each. One is ball bearing and the the other is not but both are still running today. No problems from either one other than the lack of E85 stations

Nick I appreciate this post very much and I promise you as soon as we have the turbo in our hands we will do everything we can to get you fixed up.

I'd like to hear your reasoning on why you wouldn't go any bigger than a Red.

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with us in the past, let me know if there's anything I can do to make it up to you.

Thanks,

I wanted to use E85 with me setup to try to hit at least 550whp. Here in Cali where I currently live, laws and restrictions on what you can and can not do with your car are taken very seriously. Cops will search your car and if they find illegal mods, then they can send you to a referee and not allow you to drive it. When you look under my hood, everything looks stock. And with the help of your stock appearing FP Black turbo, higher power can easily be obtained while giving others the idea that it’s simply a fast STOCK Evo. My exhaust is what hurts me the most but to me it just becomes a fixit ticket. The FP Red was what I originally wanted, but I found my FP Black for $2k, NEW from what I was told, so I jumped on it. It made 405whp on 91 oct but E85 is what I intend to run. The problem is I must drive 30 miles in order to get E85, however the good news is since my Evo is down for the moment I purchased a truck J I look forward to getting my FP Black back from you and hitting 550whp.

There have been no bad experiences Michael. I just wish I would have called you first before accepting possibilities from others. Thanks for your help Michael.

So, I've waited for 3 days and still no reply from dsm25psi. He's is who I bought the turbo from and claimed it was a DBB. However FP has the turbo and has informed me that it is NOT a DBB. It's a journal bearing turbo. So I paid $1,800 for a journal bearing that probably has way more than 300 miles of use on it that he claimed.

On a good note, FP is willing to hook me up a make it a DBB for a very reasonable price. I am willing to give dsm25psi 48 hrs till I make this ugly. I am told to make a claim with paypal but I hope it doesn't have to go that far. Big thanks goes to FP for their help and understanding in my misfortune.

Wow, this apparent case of misrepresentation by the seller really sucks. I hope that you get it resolved to your entire satisfaction, dude. On a more positive note, I like the way that FP is cooperating with the OP!

Wow. Gotta get paypal after him. Brings up the question - is there a way to differentiate between a DBB and JB FP turbo?

Yes there is.

On the blocked off water ports the JB units will have what look like freeze plugs like on a motor, the DBB units will have allen head plugs in them. I'll see if I can get a picture to highlight the difference.
