GSC R2 Stroker Cams Preliminary Testing and data!

Just got my hands on the newly released GSC R2 Cams designed for stroker setups with big turbos due to highler lift and less duration, emphasizing power below 8500. Had GSC S2 previously which i didnt get to do any dyno runs yet due to being a fresh build and had the opportunity to try these new bump sticks out, although i did want a comparison i was able to get some evoscan virtual dyno data of both cams.

Motor Specs.
2.4LR Manley TT & CP 10.1's
Unported evo 9 mivec head
chameleontuning cop kit
Supertech dual springs
Unported Stock IM & TB
Unported Exh Manifold
Unported FPBlack JB
3" DP and 3" Aluminum Exh
ETS 3.5" Cooler and custom 2.5 piping
E85 SD

cam info and pics.

Installation process.. already had my cams out so 1hr job.

all done!

S2(red) vs R2(blue) evoscan dyno
Runs were done 1 week apart, same conditions, road, temps, keeping as much as possible the same. using an FP 25psi WGSA unloaded with no boost controller would start @ 19-20psi and creep to 22-23psi.

R2 cams had a 1lb boost advantage up top, but very top of the rpm range.
R2 (blue load) S2 (purple load)

First startup

Idle

Nice work, sounds good too.

...back in the day it would have been unheard of to get cams like these to idle, with big injectors, on the stock ECU. Progress is great.

In the VIII they do. These cams have had quite a lot of engineering to make them do what we want. The fact they are as aggressive as they are and idle close to stock is the best part.

How would these perform while using a stock IX turbo on a built 4G64 with an VIII head? Would it be better for me to use S2's than these or stick with stocker's?

If its a stock head they arent for you. In all the testing with all the turbos we have used with these cams they need larger turbos to shine and a good cylinder head.

@john: it's a g4js head with the viii valvetrain, complete pnp, manley springs, maybe gsc zero tick lifters, and still debating on oversize valves.

Craig... It's a mivec car. He's got the intake cam at full retard at idle so it doesn't lope. Advance that cam 10 degrees and it'll lope like nobodies business!

Would these cams be better than the STM650's?
