I think I see what you are trying to do with the exhaust. Since our name has come up and I see some questions I want to respond.

The stock cat on the EVO is pretty damn good I would not replace it as long as you are staying with the stock catback pipe.

We have our 2.5" downpipe which clears both tie bars on sale for $225 and we have a muffler delete pipe still on sale for $115. These two parts are the most restrictive parts in your system. Keeping the stock cat and the stock catbackpipe keeps the system super quiet with the muffler delete and will not throw a CEL light.

So the downpipe I need (have 2.5" cat-back exhaust and stock cat-con still) is $225? That sounds pretty good that it clears both tie bars as well. Have you any estimated power improvements that JUST a DP adds???

Thx

David,

This is exactly what Im trying to do here! I have the Exhale , axel back from WORKS, and Im looking at getting a DP. Keeping the catback pipe with the resisnators to help with sound.

I just want to make sure the HKS DP has no clearence issues, Im pretty sure it dosnt, and ALSO is still a good bit away from the oil pan......... Is it about the same distance as the stock DP? I have heard not good things about heat wraping the DP.

And the guy with the one for sale,,,, Get back in touch with me.
If you have the Original box and gaskets from HKS,,,, not the stock ones,,,, consider it SOLD.

Thanks

Also anyone else running this set up let me know, Im just not sure about a high flow cat, I could NOT stand to smell that rotten egg/gassy smell,,,, along with a PITA CEL issue.

Thanks Again

First of all, the HF cats that we are talking about here are NOT made or designed by any of the tuners (other than being customized to fit the EVO). They are actually manufactured by several companies that make cats namely Catco, Carsound and Random Tech (there maybe more). For example, I have the AMS Downpipe and catback together with the HF cat that fits in between these two, but is it made by Catco. So the question to ask is which cat do these tuner shops sell. It maybe that the HF cat that Bushur sells is the same as UR.

Ultimate uses on Carsound (by Magnaflow) cats...50 state legal, and warrantied for 5 years, or 50k miles

we have some HKS downpipes too in stock if your other connection falls through, as well as Ultimate Racing downpipes available (2.5 and 3 inch)

Last time I talked to them, they were using Random Tech's cats. They are the most expensive by the way.

it think it has to do with where the o2 sensor is placed, I read a thread in this section where a guy with the UR straight pipe didn't get a cell but he modified the position of the o2 sens.

The factory downpipe along with the muffler is one of the worste parts on the factory exhaust. Our 2.5" downpipe clears both lower tie bars and is on sale for those of you interested.

I just put the Perrin Test Pipe on wit o2 sim and i got no cel light at all. I think it works great as long as you make sure you get the 4 wire and not the 3 wire o2 sim. Anyway my suggestion is Perrin not only for the name but for the o2 sim. Oh ya and the car sounds awesome now well worth the money! Just my $0.02
