Walbro whining!

I just took my car out of storage & I started hearing this loud whine out of the Walbro 255 pump, on & off. The pump is relatively new (around 3k miles back) but the car has been in storage for almost 9 months now. Is it possible that the storage duration had ruined the fuel pump? Should I preemptively change it before it totally fails?

The fuel level gauge is also out of whack, showing the tank as near empty while it's almost half full!

Tell me something i dont know! But if its been in storage for 9 months, take the old fuel out and put fresh fuel in there. Fuel lubricates the pump.

It had around 3 gallons of 93 fuel when it was stored, I added 6 gallons of fresh fuel before I took it out.

These pumps whine. Simple fact. Your fuel is probably fine. Its a race car, the sound will help you remember that.

walboro's are cheap and notoriously fail prematurely. I'd replace them for peace of mind in all honesty...

Like oufan said, just replace it. They are cheap enough and it will ease your worries.

You need to pull that pump and I wouldnt drive it AT ALL... that old fuel has turned to varnish and is sticking your fuel level float. That crap will clog you injectors and cost you a bundle. There is no fuel filter on the EVO--so all the crap you have in the tank goes right to the injectors--
