Evo 7 trouble shooting! need help!
Evo 7 trouble shooting! need help!
Background:
2001 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 7 GSR Japanese Import.
155,000 km's on the clock.
Melbourne, Australia.
Last thread on issue:
Summary of issues til now:
1. Heard a bang sound while wasting car (Not running). After driving it, it had the check engine light on and lost power at 50% engine load and greater..
2. Thought it might be a faulty MAF sensor, but couldn't get a hold of a working one to trouble shoot before spending $500 to get a new one.
3. After writing the Thread above and getting advise, I stated checking for boost leak. I found 2 leaks and fixed them.
Current Problem:
After fixing the Boost Leaks, I checked the pressure again. The pressure was taking/inserted from where I removed the MAF. I found another Leak which gives me more concerns.
I found pressure in the Rocker Cover when I opened the Oil-refill Cap. I had this pressure when I first got the Check Engine Light problem, but after checking different model performance cars, most had the same. So I ruled it out as a cause of the issue and put it down to normal engine age or PCV valves. I prayed it wasn't blow-by.
When I did the boost leak test, I found the pressure again... THIS REALLY CONFUSED ME!!! how did pressure from the intercooler, turbo, intake and combustion chamber get into the rocker cover??????????
Additional Questions:
Is the PCV valve system connected to the other systems I pressurised.?
Could the PCV valve system be at fault? (is the 1-way valve broken and letting pressure in)
Is it a deeper issue with internals and/or gaskets? (I.e. bent valves, blown gasket, etc)

Sounds like you are doing a boost leak test on the intake where the Maf sensor bolts up, if so there is a crankcase vent line going from the intake to the rocker cover, this is why your pressurizing the crankcase, that or your pcv valve icould be bad.
Thank you for your help, I havn't started the engine since testing and finding the crankcase pressure..
Can anyone point in the right direction of a PCV valve that fits my Evo 7 JDM.. I found that there is a difference in valves between the US and JDM models, but I cannot find where to purchase or source it...
any links would be nice
Thank you!
