experiences with the buschur racing catch can?

i have been considering this, but am not sure. i dont like that it cant be drained, and basically dumps everything it catches back into the motor. I have been reading about people finding water in their catch cans and im not crazy about it finding its way back into the engine. anyone have any issues with these?

I have a buschar catch can that I had on for a couple weeks. Started seeing milky stuff on my dipstick because water was getting into my catch can and then dumping back into my oil pan. This was right before winter when the were temps below zero. Couple weeks later my turbo took a **** and I kinda have a feeling this may have been the cause of it.. Anyway I took the catch can off obviously and haven't seen the milky look to my oil since..

You dont have to run it back into your sump you can have it draining anywhere you want to

The water that is there is condensation, it naturally builds up in the engine anyway. The thing is to drive the car long enough for it to get warm enough to vapor off the water. If you constantly do short trips and never get it to full operating temps, you're going to have excess water and nasty buildup anyway.

I have been running this catch can setup for over 3 years now and have had zero issues. No milky stuff and I run mostly e85. Like Mitsu Joe said anything Buschur makes works as intended.

Definitely keep us updated. I have been eyeing this can for awhile now. It's expensive but it seems very versatile.

ok so an update, why not

first off all when installing this thing, make sure you buy some copper rtv stuff and some hose clamps.

1. i found that you can get the entire pcv/washer assembly to come out in one piece if you apply leverage and pry against the assembly at an angle. the whole thing will come out, you just have to have the pry bar at a good angle, it will apply pressure against the washer as the unit is also being pulled out, causing the whole thing to come out at once

2. i put the copper rtv on the buschur racing super nipple that comes with the kit. i also put it on the collar of the dipstick, just for added peace of mind. if you have a 4g64 like me, there is no provision to bolt the dipstick down on the block, only on the intake manifold. otherwise bolt that sucker down.

3. measure 3 times, cut once......sometimes twice.

4. i tried to tuck the hose coming from the side valve cover nipple. i actually have it running under the fuel rail and its not interfering with anything.

5. dont bother with the oil that comes in with the k&n filter. whenever i see a filter and oil i automatically put it on out of force of habit. its a bad idea as you will find that vapors flow out of the top, which means they will just push the oil out of the element and make a mess. save the oil for a cold lonely night when you need a hand

6. the hoses were a ***** to get on the catch can. it seems like they are slightly one size smaller on purpose so the hose stays put. im constantly worrying about my stuff, so i went ahead and used worm clamps, especially since im pushing so much boost (82psi from a 14b)

7. you will notice some of the vapor smell. meh. you give a little to get so no biggy for me.

8. it could just be me, but it seems like my mileage increased a bit. on e85 i usually see 220 before the light comes on, but today im at 232 and its still not all the way down the fuel gauge, its just hovering over the empty line. i also felt a small but noticeable difference when i stepped on it.

also girls seem to like me more now. ever since i installed this thing an hour ago 4 grandmas and 2 smilf's gave me their number. i got a salute from a motorcycle police officer, and my insurance went down 50 bucks. i also noticed the bumps on my left ******** are gone. this thing is a miracle worker!

thanks Buschur Racing!!!

no seriously, thanks Nick and Dave for helping a brother out.
