Tranny improvements

Would a transmission swap from shepp or buschur give a more reliable setup?

Honestly it all depends on your power goals. If you are keeping 350whp or whatever no need to really upgrade or anything. Now if you want 700hp or what not you will need something that will handle that much power. It all depends on what you want honestly.

It's all about the driver and how you treat the vehicle. I had a 2003 wrx with one of the worst trannies ever. It was called the glass tranny after all. I had 320 whp on c16 and 300 tq. The tranny lasted me 110k+ miles with numerous launches and drag strip passes. The tranny never gave me issues. the oem clutch went out at 70k and the aftermarket lasted thereafter.

That's like asking if a built block will be able to handle more power.

Stock tranny is very durable as long as you aren't a dumbass and abuse it.

Spirited driving and abuse are one thing but another thing that comes behind that that alot of people also dont seem to realize and thats maintenance. You want it to last a while maintain it and keep maintaining it on time will also help determine that factor of it lasting for awhile without breaking down.

I barely abused my car but when I was fixing it up and the last shop that I had work on it the car jammed up on me worst experience ever. Remember when those four wheels lock up due to mechanical awd failure the car will force you to come to a hault no matter where or what speed you are in so be careful you hear any funny noises stop immediately and call for a tow truck to the shop no joke.

There isnt a lot of weak points on the 5 speed. It can handle its self, But first L2 Launch and preload.
I Ran one without oil for 30 miles or so on the highway didnt even notice one bit and because i didnt notice all the oil leaked out on the highway 5th Gear roller bearing halfs Blew apart and jammed 5th gear to being stuck, Luckily i was just pulling into my garage when that happend. The Tcase bearing inner seal went out completly and all my trans fluid flushed thru the Tcase on the passanger side, and exitied thru the breather on the Tcase.
That seal cost me a Tcase and a Trans :/

It was still shifting in to gears and grabing and keeping it in gear and everything go figure.
