GHL Exhaust
GHL Exhaust
Is there anybody out there that is running the GHL exhaust, besides the guy who did the review on the site. I'd really like to know how well the GHL turboback compares in terms of power to the Vishnu Signature, B&B, Perrin, Bushur Turbobacks, etc. And how well does it breath when going farther with tuning and mods? I'm just looking for some first hand knowledge, and hopefully some dyno reports. Thanks in advance.

I don't have the GHL exhaust, but was real close to buying one before I got the Ultimate Racing turboback. If you want the best flow, this is not the greatest system out there. All the piping is 3 in, but the muffler inner diameter is only 2.5. While not as bad as having the 2.5 in piping at the front of the exhaust, its still a restriction. The versitality of the exhaust system is pretty cool though.
I installed the GHL tonight as my first performance mod on my EVO, (well, the ACT clutch was first, but wasnt an optional mod, as the stock clutch took a sh*t in no time...). it kicks *** so far. sounds great at all RPM, and provides a very noticable power increase. fitment was perfect. the price was amazing for what you get, and with the savings, i can replace the muffler with a better flowing one if need be.
hope this helps

The best flowing exhaust for up to 500hp would be a full 3in in diameter piping for max flow.
I installed the GHL unit on a buddy's car a few weeks ago. The system is really versetile, like rebel stated and is crafted really nicely. It's just the muffler where the problem is
.
The best flowing turboback for our car, is hands down, the Buschur. I personally have the B&B installed in my car which also flows great, but doesn't sound as loud. I'm not too sure on the Vishnu Signature, but the Perrin is a very veyr nice unit.
Good luck.

I think he was saying that the Buschur was alittle loud. Buschur's exhuast are generally alittle more raspy that your average aftermakret, but it also produces nice gains, at least in the DSM world.

The Bushur was with the magnaflow and had nice sound. Bushur's fitment is poor in my opinion. GHL was a little loud for my taste(I never installed the resonator, which would have helped). GHL's resonator is not 3" straight thru, which could be an issue for some. I don't think it would dramtically effect flow.GHL fitment is top notch. GHL slip joints are much nicer than the buschur slip joints. The GHL slip joints have slits in them that make it very easy to take apart. The Burshur slip joints can crush a bit after clamping.
PLease keep in mind, I am an old man and want a pretty quite exhaust. Your tastes may vary.
I have had th GHL on my car for a couple weeks now. Just started driving the car this last weekend. I don't think you'll buy better quality and craftsmanship. It went on like butter. You could throw the parts at the car and they'll just fall in place, maybe not that easy. I had a Pruven axle back and test pipe and went to the GHL with no cat or resonator. The GHL is a lot louder in ths configuration. It is loud!! Idles loud, is real loud when under a load. In the car it is actually not too bad. I'm sure its significantly quieter with the cat on.
I would strongly recommend buying the GHL exhaust. The brothers are great to talk to and deal with. Great price too!!!

Folks,
The 3 inch muffler is not a problem to include if that is what you want. We test all variations before we decide on manufacturing. A major deciding factor in introducing a product is sound as well as drivability. We know that a 3 inch muffler will produce a bit more power but at the same time the sound level will be increased. It sure is hard to offer one product for everyone so we picked the system that will be best all around as far as sound and performance.
The folks that don't plan on upgrading turbos or have a need for extra air flow, the present system will be for you. The use of the resonator and 2 1/2 inch muffler will give good power and not be the loudest sound. Please be aware that in order to quiet down a bit, some air restricion is needed. Loud is easy.
We will gladly manufacture a 3 inch muffler for the folks that desire more air flow. It is not easy for us to manufacure one at a time. We'll gladly do a special group manufature on a full 3 inch system. You folks decide which dealer you would like to handle this for you.
