gt 3071r hotside A/R

I'm looking to replace the hot side of my gt3071r to a t3 vband style hot side and was wondering what size A/R to go with. Any input is appreciated. And why. I'd like to keep the great spool up, with possibility of 400-500 whp on pump if possible, already have gsc s2 cams oversized valves and headwork along with ams intake and exhaust manifold, and supporting fuel mods....looking to change out the hotside due to ease of install as well as clearance issues with a 3" downpipe to ac compressor clearance

.63 or .82, I would say .82 to reach your power goal.

.82, you're going to need a lot of work to get 400whp on pump with that turbo regardless.

what makes you say that? it seems like several people have gotten better using the atp with the bottlenecked hotsides and stock components? which is not my setup....? just curious

Sorry if I don't have "dynos" here, but I've used GT3071R on several platforms including the Evolution 6-9, and I'll say it depends upon whether or not you have the 60mm turbine wheel (shared with the GT3076R) or the 56.5mm turbine wheel. Either way, 400AWHP on 93 Octane gas will be a stretch at best considering the fact that it is less than 50lbs/min at over 25psi of boost pressure on the Evolution 6-9, regardless of turbine housing as you'd be over 64% to 72 % of turbine efficiency range. (The 1.06A/R may help for a split second, but not by much and is not practical to use for your purpose). 93 octane can only resist so much knock to get this power.

Unless the dyno reads extremely high, I do not think it is likely you're going to get an answer to your request of "dyno proof".

Honestly, even the .82A/R wouldn't even help. For that type of power on pump gas, you need to increase overall turbocharger size.

Is it possible to upgrade the gt3071r to the gtx3071r? would this just require the new billet compressor wheel? Ive been looking around but havent been able to find the answer. I think if I were to upgrade to the gtx it would put me right where I want to be.

No. It is a new CHRA so like $1300. You could upgrade to the FP HTA3073R for like $600 though and it would be roughly the same thing.
