Good Exhaust for EVO IX

Hey guys, i bought a bone stock 2006 EVO GSR about 6 months ago and the first bolt on that i want to go with is a 3" exhaust, my question is should i go with turbo back or catback, its my DD so i want to add about 100-150 more HP over time so i want to make sure the exhaust i buy is going to be good with about 400-450 HP, also i'm looking for sound i dont really want a ridiculously loud exhaust due to POLICE attention

so what i want to know is peoples opinon's on an exhaust for the EVO IX that gives a good nice deep sound and also something that will be ready for 400-450HP, catback or turboback?

COST EFFECTIVE: like $700 or less would be ideal for me. thanks for all your guys help and any info on my couple questions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Any catless 3" tbe is going to flow similarly. Sound is the difference.

Yes but it's a bottleneck. It's just like you could Probably squeeze 500 out of the stock intercooler, but you'll need to do more modding to force that number. You may want to check out high flow cats, however a lot of people have trouble passing smog so keep that in mind if it applies to you.

HKS HI Power and Carbon TI both sound good and are good exhaust systems.

Look into the STM exhaust. I just installed mine and it sounds better than any other exhaust I have heard or ran including the Buschur bullet. I'm uploading a video to youtube soon.

I've got a Megan stainless 3" TBE with Megan decat and no muffler. Just straight pipe. Mine sounds wonderful... BUT it can get a bit loud. BUT lol I don't drive the car every day either.

Here is mine:

for 200$ more over your budget you could get a buschur racing tbe with magnaflow. Its not as loud as most of the others.

I too have this exhaust. I have the HFC as well. The magnaflow muffler gives it a nice rumble. It's not too loud which keeps the cops off ya(hopefully)

I hate saying this..... use the search button for this one. Find some sound clips. Half of the sudjestions here are terrible. No muffler strait pipes, not what you want. If you want quite, the hks hi power mentioned above is a good exhaust. My friend has one. If you want good flow and low noise, the rre stealth exhaust is great. I have a greddy evo2 with a resonated test pipe to keep it quite.
