Which Cams???
what is the highest s2 cams will make power at assuming you have a turbo that doesnt run out of breathe up top ex pte 6466 divided 1.15 a/r? i have s2 and i intend on getting kiggly hi rev valvetrain because a little over a month ago gsc was back ordered for hi rev spring/retainer combo and i wanted to know if the s2 274/274 profile would suit my needs, i opted for them over s1 and s3 because they didnt lose anything under curve and made something like 60 peak power at hi boost over stock in that ams cam shootout..
OMFG dont waste your money s2 all day. I cant tell you how fast the horsepower bug bites you! And one day down the road your gunna look at the evo turbo and be like you useless **** im done with you and trade up for something bigger and better. Why not have the cams that can go all the way to an FP black and everywhere in between. Also I could be wrong but I believe even on a stock turbo set up the s2 cams produced more power over all then the s1 cams? So your a win win in the s2 department. And to be honest 700 isnt a bad place to be for cams that will net you around 15-25 whp and sound sick everywhere and people will want to know.....
I'm on my way out so I'll try and make this quick.
The background:
I have the S1 cams. When I bought them, I was in your position. I didn't want to spend the extra dough for the springs/retainers so I went with a smaller cam. That being said, I initially loved them. I picked up some power in the middle of my power band with the stock turbo setup. At the time I was thinking "I will never upgrade the turbo!" So these were a compromise.
Ok so after about three months I upgraded the turbo.. hah now my cams are bottle-necking my setup and the top of my power band is alot weaker than it could be. Now I'm looking at getting aggressive cams and doing it all over again. AHHH
MORAL OF STORY:
Once the mod bug hits you're F(*ked. If you're looking at cams it's probably already too late for you. Do it once. Do it right. Get yourself some S2's or Kelford 272's that way WHEN you upgrade, you wont have to shell out again. Hope this helped.

I am making nice power as well over stock cams. A good middle range cam that works great on OEM valvetrain and pump gas. However as everyone mentions you tend to outgrow it quickly. Great cam for evo 4-8's, but personally I think it's kinda obsolete for an evo 9/10.

That maybe true for an Evo 9/10 and for the OP. However the S1's make more midrange than the S2s on the non-mivec evo's from what I have seen. The S2's do however carry more power higher in the RPM band and do not fall off like the S1s.
