Has anyone put cams in their Evo X and passed CAli SMOG legally with them? I know with my GTO I can run a decent cam and still pass SMOG. Id like to cam my EVO but dont want to worry about SMOG issues at all. If this needs to be moved to another section, go ahead moderators. Thanks

What are your current mods? Cams are a pretty entailed mod to do on X's its not like 8/9's where its fairly easy to do.

 

Currently I have a UICP, AEM Intake, QTP cutout for the exhaust and a RRE tune. I guess I havent looked into how to do cams on the X, I ASSumed it was like all other DOHC cars. I do all my own work and did cams on my DSM. I know I would require a tune after but has anyone passed SMOG with upgraded cams?
EDIT: Sorry Im at 339 AWHP @25 psi. This car is heavy and I want more powa! My Talon was faster with less power. ha

I'm not too sure how well you will fair with this question on here. Did you post it on SoCal too? My vote goes to Cossie MX1 because RRE likes to use those and Mike (The RRE one haha) makes good use of them with the tune. As far as smog friendly, who knows.

I'd start with a FMIC first. That way you won't run into heat soak problems later on.

 

I didnt post on SoCal Evo yet but I think I will. I know there arent too many of these Evo Xs that have had to SMOG yet, so I might just wait. Yeah I think Ill do FMIC and maybe meth injection. I posted a question about FMICs and cars running hot (Talon did that, dont want my Evo to have the same problem), so Im waiting on a response before I buy a FMIC. Thanks for replying, Nick!
