A lot of people who get cels forget to reset their ECU by pulling off the negitive battery cable when they install it. doing this has fixed it for many people.

I had AEM Intake first and the car ran like crap, but after I got the HKS RS I love it.

I hear some people say that you shouldn't get an intake without flashing the ECU because an intake alone makes a dramatic difference on the A/F ratio which creates a lean spot somewhere in the A/F. Anyone agree with this? I personally haven't seen any solid proof for this.

I have heard the rumor too, but my a/f on the stock ecu went leaner at 5k, but still good.

I have been running the HKS RS for 12000k and not one problem yet.

Its not a "rumor" its a physical fact which can be documented and verified with measuring equipment

Here is a whole thread where I do a "case study" on the effect of intakes

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=110456

Sure the car still works with the new intake and without any tuning - BUT - is this how you want your car to run ?

OR - would you prefer this . . . . (same car after reflash tune)

Does anyone have 272 cams and the RS Intake? Mine idles like sh*t and sometimes stalls. It was idling great with the 272s BEFORE the intake. Installed the intake and the idle now hunts/surges and runs lean. I've checked all the clamps and everything is tightend down. Air/fuel will be 13.XX one moment, then leans up to 19.XX. Up and down, up, and down.

I did scuff up the honey combs inside the MAF during the install. Will have to swap to one that is not scuffed up to see if that's what is causing the problem.

Other than that, the car runs great at WOT.
