If you wanted 500whp on pump....

What would you do if you wanted 500whp (dynojet) on pump gas what turbo would you choose(stock bottom-end for a while)? Evo 8.
Here are some parts that I have are waiting to install:
Magnus V5 worked over by R/T Ernie
S3's with springs/retainers
On a Green currently though I have a used JB Black sitting here, just can't decide if that's what I really want to use.

Will build the motor this winter.

Car will be used for road course, HPDE's, occasional Auto-X, no drag racing, driven on nice days etc. Gutted, race Recaro's, rollbar for now(full cage later this year).

Should I install the Black? Sell it and find a BB Black, a CBRD turbo, something else. FWIW I already have a JMFab stock location manifold, as well as a MAP downpipe/02 eliminator/dump. 2 of them actually lol.

JB (from what I've seen) has found that most Blacks max out before 500whp (470-480 DJ) on pump, especially considering your location, assuming that you only have 91. IMO, I wouldn't seek out 500whp on pump (especially your pump gas) on a stock frame setup, but I would think an EF4 would get you the closest.

If that's your end goal, I'd say go T3 and grab a 3582 or 3586 (or PTE equivalent) and meet your pump gas numbers that way. Stock framers (FP Whacks specifically) aren't really conducive to pump gas powah from what I've seen.

However, if response is worth more to you than precisely reaching the '500whp mark', I would personally keep 73HTA, as I've seen them make 460-470 DJ on 93 octane, which in my eyes is a much better option over 900rpms more lag and 30-40 more hp (both on pump).

Just my .02 if it's worth anything to yah.

What are you currently unhappy with?

thats a tough one, Ide agree with the guy in the 2nd post about using a 3582 honestly with a built motor your kinda waisting your money building your motor if you only plan to use 91 octance. However since you have that intake manifold might I suggest a 4 port Meth system, so it sprays in each individual cylinder evenly then you can make your goal with ease honestly with any turbo FPRED or bigger.

Thanks for the replies. Meth is an option but its not allowed in scca events that I know of. Ok in NASA events.
Built motor because of 108k. As it becomes more of a track car I may switch to e85.

I don't really think the magnus is necessary for your goals. I'd personally sell that and invest that cash towards a DBB FP Red, many prefer the Red over the black

Yeah, because (FP Black + 2.0L + Auto-X = oxymoron).

500whp on straight 91 octane is not realistic. Even 400whp on straight 91 octane is pretty rare.

I was making very close to 500whp on a mustang dyno on a 3586. On only 26psi and a conservative tune(since i was stock block). 93 octane too

I dont see you making that kind of power on any stock appearing turbo though

I agree with most of that but you have to remember the torque that 73hta will produce is not gentle to the stock rods. Gotta keep that mind. Tuning can help to an extent.

To the OP, if you dont meet your numbers, you can go up to a ToxicFab manifold. That beast has 1 1/2" runners.

I'm considering a BB Red, 3586 or EFR 7670 Full Race kit. I did sell my JB Black.
