Ive done some major reading lately and decided to get tuned on our homegrown corn fuel. I know the fuel economy gets cut down but how much? Whats the power some members are putting out and what is your mpg?

Have you done some preliminary research? All of those questions and answers can be found in here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/alternative-fuel-225/

The general consensus is that fuel economy suffers by ~30%. In my case I see about a 25% reduction in dd conditions mixed city/highway, from ~23 on 93 to ~18 on e85

Power figures vary on your setup and what you are trying to achieve. Youll see bigger gains with a larger turbo bc its all relative. Im on the stock turbo and I gained ~40whp and ~70wtq from making the switch.

FYI if you plan to run corn through your car you are going to be limited with your fuel system. An upgraded pump and some larger injectors should be on your list.

Take a look at the Alternative Fuel section that I linked and you will find a ton of info on exactly what you asked. Good luck! E85 is great stuff you will love it!

^What that guy said. I get about 17-19 depending on traffic on E. I daily mine. I averaged 23 last trip to galveston going about 80 all the way down and back.

Corn is addictive. You won't ever want to run something else once you go to it. Lots of good resources on this forum about it. It's hard to judge my fuel economy because my car rarely sees the street now, and at full tilt I only get around 3 mpg on pump gas, but it definitely drinks E85 faster. You can actually see the fuel needle go down when your at WOT. Temps stay much lower though, and I gained 60 whp with a very mild road racing tune.

All the above.

If you do the math, it cost about the same as pump gas. 91 octane cost me $3.99/gallon and I get about 23 mpg (17.3 cents/mile). E85 costs $2.99/gallon and I get 18 mpg (16.6 cents/mile). I just don't really like getting E every other day since I DD.

Power wise, yes there is a significant amount of gains to be had if you tune for it. GL.

If you intend to track the car find a good tuner... Its been the case locally that the only cars that can launch on e85 are cars tuned by tom at tscomp... I can do basic tunes and understand how... And i cant find what he did to make it work. But i havent search either since i dont launch...
