Ok so I jus performed by own leak down test today (Bought a kit from NAPA) and the 2 cylinders that were low on compression Were leaking through the exhaust valves because I could hear the air compression through the exhaust. I tried my best to make sure it was at top dead center but being that I did several tests on each cylinder and it did the same thing every time I think its the exhaust valves, the other 2 cylinders were perfectly fine. When I did my own compression test the numbers were 140, 130, 100, 70.

 

Time for a Built head!

 

I had the same problem with my car. Differnect cylinders, but same problem. You'll be replacing the HG as well and while you're at it, add some head studs. And, if you do decide to get a built head, shop around. There are some good deals to be had. I choose Curt Brown. Top rate service and very fast turnaround time.

Yeah so im going to build the head as well as pick up some ARP L19 head studs while I have the head off. Im trying to decide between Brian Crower or Manley Valves, springs and retainers. Which do you guys prefer between the 2 brands?

 

OEM valves would be fine. The exhaust ones are already sodium filled. Do some research on springs and choose the best for your needs. IE: Higher spring rates so you dont float a valve at higher RPM.

Im running supertech duals on mine with OEM valves and a 4 angle valve job. Just needed upgraded springs to hold a higher RPM. Now I have the 2.4L, i will only be revving to 7K or so. I was revving to 9K on my 2.0L.

 

Yeah I've decided that i'm going to use OEM valves with GSC Beehive springs/retainers.
