Advice

Hi I'm looking to rebuild my motor not sure what direction I want to head, I have a Precision 6262 turbo and most of the goodies to go with it. I have GSC S2 cams and also GSC 5041 springs and retainers, and the first thing I did was put ARP head studs in still running the stock turbo right now my car was dyno tuned at 312awhp and 308 fl/lbs of torque. I was thinking of going with Manley TT rods and weisco 10:1 pistons looking to make around 500hp

Ahh, what is your question?

Are you asking us which direction you should go with your car? If so, how about instead you ask yourself that very same question.

Just wondering about some suggestions, and I have asked myself that same question just looking for some opinions is all, and if someone has a similar build what kind of power they put down that's all.

Well a stock block will make 500whp with that turbo. How long it lasts is anyones guess.

What heel2toe is getting at is what is your goals with your car? Do you want to track it? Daily driver? Drag? That will ultimately determine what motor you "should" build.

Well it was my daily, but I bought me a truck so now she is queen of the garage lol, and I'm planning on rebuilding the motor before I put the turbo on cause I wouldn't chance it on 130K miles. I've been very religious about running the best oils and changing it regularly. I'm looking to make it a drag car but still street drivable in the vicinity of 500awhp for now.

Depends on what you want man. If you want a strict drag car, go with a built 2.0, your 6263 and run with it. If you think you will drive on the street a lot, you might wanna look into a 2.3L. Im not saying a built 2.0 with a larger turbo isnt streetable, but with the 2.3, it might be more enjoyable on the street.

I love my 2.3 with my hta86 on it. Plenty of power to play at the track, enough tq for the streets, as well as doing autox and whatnot. Great all around package!

It would be best to narrow the goal a bit...DD and drag car arent really compatible. You will not like driving an narrow band car on the street and it wont get driven enough at the track..( good intentions etc )

I used to live in Fla Oldsmar outside of Tampa... where is the nearest track to Inverness?

My opinion is to make it a really nice DD about 400 whp. Make it handle and stop well. It is what an EVO was orginally designed to do. It will still be an 11-12 second car and not be prone to break even on the stock block. Temps will be in control for the FLa heat and fuel.

More importantly it will have the real dual purpose that you are saying you have in mind...even great for mild car shows like at Steak and Shake ...

you might want to consider showing up at one of the Grassroots Motorsports events put on by GRM in Daytona. Those are gearheads who love Evo's and STi's

If you do say hello to Per Schroeder for me. I knew him several years ago

Think about it at least

Thanks man I appreciate the input, the nearest 1/4 mile track to me is Gainesville, and the 1/8 mile in Bradenton. I have a couple of friends around me that have evo's as well and we usually go to IFO (Import Face Off), and car shows around FL but I would be driving my car usually on the weekends and to the track.
