The fidanza gears are setup for the degreee marks to be CW 90 degrees when on an evo. Howeever you did confirm my thoughts that the cams will need to be advanced when using the 64 belt. So he needs to move them the same amount in the other direction from 0, ie advacing the cam, instead of retarding it when utilizing the 63 belt.

If thats the case with the fidanza gears, why are the cams out that much? I used the AEM ones but I know there was a run of fidanza gears were mis marked (DSM/EVO) holes.

The cam peg should line up with the mark on the valve cover. In his pic, it is 2 teeth off. Thats only if the pic was take with everything lined up properly and the crank was not turned.

I hope you are responding to galantman03 post about positions of his cam gears.

Are you talking about my timing marks??
I did start my car and have been driving it. Have about 2k miles on there already. Runs great and boosts great.

It doesn't matter which belt you use as to whether to advance or retard the cams it matter where you set the gears. If you put the marks ahead of the factory mark on the valve cover you retard the gear. If you put the marks behind the mark on the valve cover you move them forward. With the gears zeroed out you extend the mark from the lip to the center of the gear. After you mark the center you want the part in the center to point to the mark on the valve cover. Disregard the outer lip the belt rides on once the centers are marked.

If you cam dowl lines up with the mark on the valve cover, your cam is at 0* of cam timing. Then you can start playing with the cam timing to make more power or what not.
THATS the info I was looking for. So my timing is advanced based on the cam gears? So I need to go the other way correct? I thought I had this all sorted through before I left, but I can't remember crap from six months ago lol
