$4,000 to put into my evo 8

as the title says i have about $4,000 to put into my car for performance parts. I have a 2005 evo 8 with catback exhaust, fuel pump, 3 port, intake, and tune. currently putting down 295 AWHP and 287 AWTQ.

i was thinking about doing full bolt ons, injectors, cams, and a E85 tune +???

or

bigger turbo, downpipe/testpipe, injectors and a tune +???

with my budget 4-5K what would you guys suggest. also i am going to have RRE do the work so factor in the price of instillation and a tune

What do u consider is a "big turbo"?
I think u should figure out what u want to do with the car first.
Personally I would choose first option.

injectors, cams, valvesprings, o2/dp/tp, intercooler/piping, e85 tune. This would be good for over 350 whp and would feel like a brand new freaking car, haha.

not sure how many miles on your car/clutch, but maybe do a twin disk clutch job as well.

Instead of twin disc clutch.... Get the compettion stage 2-5 clutches can get more miles on them compare to twin discs which needs rebuilds after 10k miles?

I've always been curious about this. I want to think its driving style and the power you are putting down. There are people that burn out the stock clutch in 10-20k miles. Me on the other hand, I made my stock clutch last till 60k no problem and it was swapped out in conjunction with an increase in power, not because it was going bad.

Twin disk with under 400 hp and a smart driver should last a good amount of time. My buddy drives his car like a bat outta hell and hes at 20k and counting. Granted, there is a price difference, but the driveability of a twin disk is very nice in my opinion.

In any case, with those mods and stock turbo, either clutch setup should be fine and last. The twin disk does allow for power growth though.

Figure out your goals first before just slapping parts on the car. Then pick parts that will get you to that goal.

I have first hand experience.... I drove my competition stage 4 the same way i drove my exedy twin... I was making 607hp/530tq..... Driveability wise... The comp clutch grab harder but not alot... When i pulled them out the car the exedy has approx 7k miles 5-6 drag passes same with my comp stge 4..... But the difference is the remaining clutch life.... The exedy showed some wear while the comp looks like it was barely broken in!..... And specially this guy has only 4k in budget why would u get a $1500 clutch compare to a $500 clutch? Imho

Regardless of clutch life, a twin in a ~400whp car is way overkill IMO, considering the loss in driveability.

Save it and not modify the car. If I had $4,000 there is no way the car would ever see more than maybe $1,000 of it. Since you insist on spending some on the car go ahead and finish the exhaust, injectors, fuel pump, and tune.

I vote with the last suggestion. Save your money in case something breaks or wears out and you need to fix it. The more power you make, the more stuff you can expect to break, and the more your repairs will cost, at least if you want to replace those high horsepower parts.

It is written that "A living dog is better than a dead lion". To put it in car terms: a stock Evo that runs is faster than a 1500 horse Evo that crapped itself and the owner cannot afford to fix right now.

I only have 55k miles on the car. it is pretty clean. I just replaced the clutch with a ACT street clutch about 3,500 miles ago... should be good on a clutch for a while.

i think im going to max out my evo 8 turbo with full bolt ons and see how it feels, then go from there.

appreciate the help guys
